Recently, the news has taken notice of orphans coming forward to publicly ask for someone to adopt them. The most recent incidence of this is 15-year-old Davion Only from Florida. One Sunday Davion spoke in front of a Florida church assembly and asked for someone “mom or dad, black, white or purple” to adopt him, love him, and make him a part of their family forever. Since this plea, Davion has gotten around 10,000 offers from people all over the world for adoption.
Another heart warming instance of this amazing show of courage from orphaned children comes from Tennessee. A group of children were asked to write a wish on a piece of paper to be placed inside a prayer balloon that would be released into the skies. Two sisters wrote on their paper, “We wish for our new mommy and daddy to adopt us for Christmas.” Their balloon traveled from Tennessee to Maryland, where it was found and sent back to the foster parents of Eva, 6, and Jasmine, 8. They took this as a sign from God that it was time for them to legally become a forever family. These sweet little girls got their wish and were adopted soon after.
