If you’re considering placing your child for adoption, remember that you are not alone. Finding and maintaining support during and after your pregnancy is essential. Adoption is a beautiful and meaningful journey, but it comes with its challenges. To navigate your unique journey with adoption, you need consistent and compassionate support. With ample support, birth mothers are better equipped to process and heal from their experiences in the long term. Beyond just your pregnancy and placement, you deserve quality care, supporting not only the child, but your new beginning, as well.
Adoption is an unforgettable declaration of love, but it is also a decision that comes with its own challenges. You may experience varying levels of grief and loss or relief, and these conflicting emotions can be confusing. After your child is placed for adoption, you will be referred to our grief counselor. With her, you can navigate your journey, free of charge and with as many sessions as you like. These online sessions serve as safe spaces for you to express and process your feelings with guidance from someone who understands your journey.
Support from our grief counselor looks different for every birth mother and her unique journey. During your sessions, you’ll navigate the six stages of grief and address the complex feelings associated with the ambiguous loss of adoption. Through conversations and resources, she can help bring clarity to your thoughts and feelings, helping you heal from your experiences and grow to a place of care and well-being. The grief counselor is here to provide practical and emotional support for you and your unique experiences and challenges.
Post-placement support continues long after the initial experience, extending through our Annual Birthmother Retreats, if you wish to participate. Here, you will be able to connect with other women who have also experienced placing a child up for adoption and understand what you’re going through. You will have access to group sessions on self-care, financial planning, goal setting, and more. Building a network of support with new and familiar faces is crucial as you embark on the next steps of your new beginning. Find strength, support, and a sense of community year after year.
Through post-placement care, you can better identify how you’re feeling, find compassionate support to talk about your experiences, and find joy and love in your choice. Adoption can be complicated and beautiful. That’s why it’s so important you have the long term support you need, from grief counseling and retreats to conversations with friends and family. Post-placement care serves to help you transition into the next stage of your life.
