It was the first Christmas, and young parents welcomed baby Jesus. This newborn child was worthy of praise—at birth—and the Wise Men were moved by God to worship him. “Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him” (Matthew 2:20). This child was chosen. His earthly father was chosen. His mother was chosen. This holy family modeled God’s plan for children…the “family.”
As a non-profit adoption agency, we have devoted our adult lives to bringing families together. Our main goals are to help frightened birthmothers and bring together forever families. In 2013, we have done more than ever, but we want to do more in 2014. To achieve our aspirations, we need your help.
Brenda has calculated that we still need $59,000 in year-end gifts. Why? Well, as we stated before, we have done so much this year to benefit birthmothers, children, and potential forever parents. Here is a list of the improvements we have made in 2013.
-
We successfully invested in Hague re-accreditation which set us apart in the adoption world. This is a requirement for agencies to do international adoption.
-
We developed a birthmother app. Now frightened girls can check out adoption before calling us. In today’s society, being able to access information from a mobile device is a blessing, especially for girls who are terrified.
-
We upgraded the Erwin Maternity Care Center.
-
We hired a former birthmother to help with crisis pregnancy center outreach. Who better to help frightened pregnant girls than a woman who was once a frightened pregnant girl? We are proud to inform that it is working. We are helping so many birthmothers.
But our investments, as stated above, are not the only expenses we have faced this year. We have to fund our outreach as well. Reaching people includes radio and select national and local publications. Below we will list our aspirations for 2014.
-
We hope to continue the birthmother app in 2014. This continuation will cost $5,000.
-
We want to provide a DVD that will include “Jeremy’s Story” (the first baby placed with New Beginnings and now a board member) as well as explain our services to 6,000 pastors. The cost of this aspiration is $21,000.
-
Lastly, we hope to put materials in and provide training to 25-30 Crisis Pregnancy Centers. Including staff, this is projected to cost about $24,000.
We ask you to take a moment and think about families. If you believe that every child belongs in a family, then New Beginnings offers you the opportunity to make 2014 a fantastic year for precious children.
Some of you follow us on social media and read our blog posts occasionally but have never given. Others are regular donors now or have been in the past. Whichever category you fall into, we pray that you will make your decision to invest in “family” now. Some of you may have the ability to help with a gift of $25,000 or more. Others have the ability to help with a $10,000, $5,000 or $1,000 gift. Some of us have the ability to give $25, $50, $100 or perhaps $500. Just like the Wise Men that obediently followed the star, please ask the Lord, “What is right for us to give? What would please you?”
We have given our adult lives to minister to birthmothers, babies and children who, without New Beginnings, may never have been born. You give, along with us, because you believe in the true “Star” of Bethlehem—Jesus—and because He will one day give it all back to us with His simple, “Well done.” Thank you for believing in the importance of family!
