Sarah and I met at church in 2009 in Flagstaff, AZ. We instantly had chemistry and began a wonderful relationship soon after we met. At the time, Sarah was working on her Bachelor’s degree and I had just started taking classes at community college. We shared our life together as we each worked on our education and setting up our future together. We both attended Northern Arizona University and spent many hours there envisioning what we wanted to do with our life. We got engaged in July 2010 and married on May 14, 2011 in Mesa, AZ. We lived in a tiny little campus apartment in our first year together. During that first year, Sarah had an internship in Nashville, TN while she worked on getting her MBA. At the time her brother had recently relocated to Nashville and decided he wasn’t moving back. So, in order to be closer to Sarah’s family we made the decision to move. In May 2012 we graduated (my bachelors and her Masters) and we moved in July of 2012. Sarah had accepted an offer with a public accounting firm and I transferred to a new management position from the company I worked at back in Arizona for the last 6 years. We bought our first house together in Nashville and have lived here for (almost) 7 years! It’s a wonderful city with wonderful people and we love calling it our home. In 2013 my wife gave birth to our beautiful daughter, Harlow Grey, who can’t wait to have a new sibling to love and grow with!
We bring out the best in each other. Our individual strengths really provide balance to our relationship and allow us to grow stronger each day. We keep our faith the cornerstone of our relationship, which helps us stay grounded and focused on being the best people we can be, to each other, and to others. We do genuinely just enjoy one another’s company.
We live in a newly constructed two story home with 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a fenced in backyard, and a very quiet neighborhood. We are tucked back away from busy streets, but an easy drive to everything we need! Our neighbors are wonderful people, with children of different ages. We look out for each other and are always willing to help out when needed. We are located in south Nashville, zoned for some of the best schools in town. It gives us the opportunity to provide the best education in a safe and loving environment. We are near many fun things to do, including parks, restaurants, the zoo, or community events!
We built our house in 2015, with a growing family in mind. We have always in our hearts that providing a home through adoption is the greatest blessing. We have a safe, comfortable, and loving environment that will accommodate all the needs of beautiful, growing child. We make it point to cook healthy meals together as a family, including our daughter, and try out best to let her get involved when we’re making meals. She LOVES to help us cook and is a great egg cracker for a 4-year-old. We are intentional about eating dinner together as a family and not having devices or distractions around. Real, honest, loving conversations are the thing that keeps us connected and gives us quality time together.
We love to play outside, play board games, take walks, go swimming, watch movies, and go to church together. We enjoy having play dates with school friends or hanging out with friends in general. We all do chores together to take care of our home and keep it safe and clean. We take pride in where we spend our life together and treat it as such. We spend time with our extended family, eating meals together or helping each other when needed.
We spend our holidays together with our families, eating good food and enjoying each other’s company. We treasure having our family close and being together.
We love to travel when we can. We have visited family in Arizona and Texas, and taken fun trips to California and Florida. We have gone to the aquarium in Chattanooga, and visited Atlanta a few times as well. We are surrounded by wonderful cities to visit and try to take advantage of it whenever possible. We have a fun family trip planned for Florida this May and are looking forward to letting Harlow play at the beach.
OUR ADOPTION JOURNEY
It has always been on our hearts to adopt a child into our home. Since Sarah was a little girl she envisioned having a large family full of wonderful children. I share this desire with her to provide a home to an adoptive child. We will raise our adopted children no different from our biological child through teaching them love, respect, kindness, and what it means to be generous givers of their gifts. We want to raise a child in a home that nurtures their hearts and minds, and teaches them to be the best they can be. We believe children are precious and a gift to be cherished. We get so excited just talking about adoption and what it means for our family.
At the beginning of this year, we decided it was the right time to start the process to adopt. We are ready to open our home to a child we can love. We can’t wait to grow our family and bring in a new member!
