Thank you from the very bottom of our hearts for taking the time to learn about our family. We have so much love in our hearts and cannot wait to share it with our future child. Your courage, strength, and love are beautiful and amazing and we pray for you as you make such a brave decision. If you were to choose us to raise your baby, please know that he or she will always know how much love, strength, and bravery you showed in your decision. It is such a courageous and selfless decision and we would be honored to be considered as a forever family for your child.
I grew up in a small, loving, and Christian family. I am an only child, but was always taught the value of working hard by my parents. I am so thankful and blessed to have such wonderful parents who taught me about God. I would describe myself as loving, caring, nurturing, kind hearted, compassionate, and bubbly. I have always been a tender hearted person and always want to help take care of everyone and make sure that they are happy and feel loved. I love to decorate and organize things. I love decorating our home for different holidays. Christmas of course is the thing that I decorate the most for, I love it and Steve loves it as well. I have several things for fall that we put out and also decorate the front porch with pumpkins and mums. It just makes me happy to do this. I also love all kinds of music and singing and love going to concerts. My mother sings and I grew up singing in church and still do. I sing special music for different occasions at church and love being able to share that gift that God has blessed me with.
I grew up in small, loving, Godly home. I grew up with a younger brother and our parents always carried us to church and instilled wonderful Christian values in us. I am very proud to say that I am a Christian and a member of the same church that I grew up in. Church is very important to my family and me, and I will always make sure that my child is brought up the same way that I was. Growing up we spent lots of time doing things together like camping and vacations, I would love to continue those same traditions with my future child. I would describe myself as laid back and easy going. I love being able to help people out who are in need and offer them a helping hand. I enjoy woodworking and have made several things for our home as well as to sell.
As A Couple:
God truly had our future planned out from the very start. Our mutual friend had been telling us about one another for several months and that she felt like we would be good for each other and that we should meet. Scared and nervous, but also curious we both stepped out of our comfort zones and said yes to meeting each other. Besides asking Jesus into our hearts, it is without a doubt the best YES that either of us ever said. We would go back and say it a million times over. We are so thankful for such a wonderful friend and a mighty Savior who knew exactly what we both needed. We met in February of 2014 & became engaged that December. We were married June of 2015. We would have married each other even sooner, because there was never any doubt in either of our minds that we were with who we were meant to spend the rest of our lives with. We are best friends and help each other and support one another in everything we do.
Amy Jo’s thoughts about Steve:
Steve and I are a team and help each other and lean on each other. Marriage is a give and take and I feel that we do a great job of balancing everything and depending on and supporting each other. Steve is my very best friend. I love him more today than I did yesterday, and I would be lost without him. He is pure goodness and I thank God every day for blessing me with him and his love. I am convinced that God created us especially for each other and I am oh so glad He did. He is without a doubt one of the hardest working people that I have ever known. He literally works from sun up to sun down. He is always willing to help anyone out in any way that he can and the first to volunteer no matter what it might be. He is a Godly man and provides so well for our family and leads as the man of the household should. He is already a wonderful and supportive daddy to Ethan and I know he will be to our future children as well.
Steve’s thoughts about Amy Jo:
Amy Jo is very kind and compassionate and always makes sure that I am taken care of. She is very caring and wants to help take care of everyone around her. My wife and I are a lot alike in most ways. Like I said before, we are both Christian people and have a strong love for our faith and our families. We both love doing fun things with each other as well as our immediate families. We both love children and have several that we are blessed to have in our lives that consider us family and would live with us if they could. Amy Jo and Ethan have a wonderful relationship. They love and respect one another and I know that there’s nothing she wouldn’t do for him and as a father and husband that is the best feeling in the world. I know that she will be the best mother to our future children as well .We help each other out with everything and are a team and I am so thankful that God has blessed me the with opportunity of getting to experience and live life with her.
We have lived in our home for a little over a year now and we love it. We live in a traditional two-story brick house with an enclosed garage, 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, living room, kitchen, dining room. We have a front and back porch and love to sit out on both and enjoy the outside. Our yard is big and filled with beautiful trees and landscaping. We pray that everyone that enters our home will always feel welcomed and feel the love of Jesus inside. We have tons of space and more than enough room to bring a sweet baby into it. We live close to a wonderful school that is very close knit and filled with excellent and caring teachers, which will allow your child to receive the best education. Even though we live in a small community, we are very close to bigger areas that offer a wide variety of fun and exciting things to do.
Our week and weekends are busy like everyone else’s, but filled with things we love doing. In the spring and summer we are more than likely doing something outside or in the yard. Steve loves working in the yard mowing, fixing things around the house, and he does an excellent job of building and redoing furniture. He has made several pieces to sale and also made our beautiful farmhouse table for our dining room. I like helping him in the yard with mowing and enjoy tending to my flowers. Ethan enjoys going hunting and fishing on Saturdays and having dinner with us. Steve loves to grill, so we do a lot of that on the weekends especially and just relax and watch TV or a movie together. We all attend church together on Sundays, with usually eating out for lunch afterwards. Ethan is on the high school football team and bowling team, and also a 4-H member, so all of that keeps us busy during the school year with attending games and different school and 4-H functions. We usually just go with the flow and always have the most fun no matter what we are doing.
We are both so blessed to have two wonderful sets of parents who have been married for 37 and 40 years. We both grew up in Godly homes with parents who taught us right from wrong. We love getting together with our families so our future child will certainly be getting to spend lots of time with grandparents on both sides of the family. We have family meals with both sets of parents, as well as having everyone over to our house quite often to eat together and fellowship with one another. They all are so happy about our decision to adopt and support us 110%!! Our immediate families are both small, but we both have larger extended families that we are blessed to live close to and are able to get together with on special holidays and occasions. Since getting married we have started a tradition of getting together with both of our immediate families between Thanksgiving and Christmas where we fry a turkey and everyone pitches in and cooks and we have a big meal at our home to visit and celebrate together. We also have cook outs with our best friends who live close by. They have several children, so our child will be blessed to grow up with other children to play with.
OUR ADOPTION JOURNEY
Adoption has always been something that we felt would be so special and rewarding and a true calling from God. We did not realize that one day that He would call us to do just that, but we are so thankful and honored that He has. To give a child a home and a future that they might never know otherwise or have is simply amazing and beautiful. We feel that adoption is the best way to grow our family due to our struggles with infertility. After trying for over a year to have children on our own with no success, we were referred us to a fertility specialist. After both having numerous blood test and procedures performed , our doctor suggested to us that our best options of having children looked to be adoption or to try doing IVF using donor eggs due to ovaries aging faster than they should and having very little ovarian reserve(egg count). Adoption has always been in the back of our minds from the very start once we realized that pregnancy might not come as easily to us as others. God states in His Holy Word, that we are to protect and help care for others. We are all adopted into God’s family through Christ and we know that it will be such a special honor and privilege to get to love, protect, shape, and help mold a child that He has specifically chosen just for us. We have so much love to give a child and we can’t wait to live the amazing story and journey that awaits us.
