WAITING FAMILIES
Caleb and Cassie
Dear Birthmother,
We have been praying for this for a long time. Cassie and I are both people of faith and put our faith and hope in Christ Jesus. We’re praying for you and are so incredibly blessed to be considered as future parents. We have a lot of love to give a child. Through many years of effort, including IVF, we’ve prayed and discerned that adoption is a calling that God has placed on our hearts. When Cassie and I first met, we talked about children and adoption was in that conversation. This has been an eight-year prayer for us. The child we are blessed with will be met with unconditional love like Christ teaches us to have. They will be met with care, listening ears, and shoulders they will cry on. He/She will know they are supported and have us in their corner as their biggest fans at ball games, concerts or school science fairs. Our home will be filled with laughter as they wonder why I love Scooby-Doo so much and they’ll assist Cassie in the garden outside.
We are so grateful for you and your heart. There have been many nights we’ve asked ourselves how God would answer this prayer for us, and through your discernment and your decision, you could be God’s way of answering our prayer. Over the past several years, God has shown us how to be more patient, how to listen, and how to overcome challenges together; all qualities that we will instill in our child. Both of us have such supportive and loving families behind us in support of this decision. With all the gratitude and prayer we have, we look forward to a blessing that words cannot truly describe.
About Us
We met online on Christian Mingle. Cassie was living in Kansas at the time and I lived in Mississippi. Cassie loves animals and was working at a grooming facility while I was commuting and working on my master’s degree at Memphis Theological Seminary. Cassie moved back to Dallas in 2016, and we both drove many miles and had many virtual dates during this time. I eventually moved to Texas to be with Cassie in Dec. 2016. I have been serving in the church since I was 18 years old, and got a job in Mabank, TX, as youth director as Cassie began her journey going back to school. We’ve lived in TX, Louisiana, and now we are happily settled in Mississippi. We wed in November 2017 and have had, going on, 8 beautiful years together. Our two dogs, Ella and Jax are such blessings and comforters. Marbles, our cat, loves to snuggle and nap with us. I admire Cassie’s persistence and nurturing spirit. Cassie has dealt with a husband that has had to move for his calling in ministry, yet in each place we’ve lived she has always followed her calling to teach children and thrived in doing so. Cassie is patient, kind, and loving to each student that walks in her doors. She also serves the church and works with children there as well giving children’s devotions and lessons. Cassie has a bachelor’s from MS State University in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in Reading. Cassie loves to garden and even has received yard of the month accolades from our neighborhood garden club.
Our Home / Community
Our beautiful home sits in a quiet country setting on almost an acre of land. We have very sweet neighbors that have chickens and fenced in backyards. We have three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. We love to host events for church and friends. Our covered carport came in handy as we just grilled and hosted our friends for my birthday. We also hosted the women’s group from our church for Christmas brunch. Our home is single story, the perfect size for a young, growing family. Our home is filled with love, laughter, faith, and peace. Cassie’s favorite room in the house is our reading room where we have many books of many genres. There’s a large cozy chair that is perfect for quiet time and relaxation. My favorite area in the home is the kitchen because I love to fire up steaks with sauteed squash and onions on the side! We live in a great school district and Cassie works in an A rated school district where our child will receive quality education.
Family Activities / Traditions
Our family has a few traditions that always make each year special. Every summer, we head to Orange Beach with my family to enjoy the sun and make memories together. Around the holidays, we have a fun tradition of shopping for each other’s stocking stuffers at the same store. We try to sneak around and avoid running into each other while picking out the perfect little gifts, which always makes it more fun. For our wedding anniversary, we always go on a special trip to celebrate. And every Halloween, we throw a costume party that’s always a blast and everyone loves getting creative with their costumes. These traditions are what keep us close and make the holidays and every year so memorable.
Cassie loves reading, gardening, walking the dogs, and watching sunsets from the porch. She also enjoys visiting the library and spending time outdoors, especially tending to her flowers. I am a big Dallas Cowboys fan and a sports enthusiast who enjoys the gym, tennis (which I taught for years), and going on walks. Together, we enjoy attending sports games, going to the movies, especially Disney, faith-based, or action films, and volunteering at the local food pantry through our church. Cassie comes from a large, baseball loving family with springtime games and trips to Dallas and South Texas, while my smaller family treasures time at Alabama and Florida beaches and visiting the Opryland Hotel at Christmas.
Our Adoption Journey
Our journey to adoption has been present in our hearts since we met. We knew we both felt called early in our relationship to adoption and that it would always be an option for us. We both are people of great faith in Christ and listen to His call. We took having children seriously and waited about two years into our marriage before trying to conceive. In this journey, we discovered we had fertility issues in 2019. We tried many medical procedures the following years including intra-uterine insemination and IVF. The procedures we went through were emotional, and there were losses in the process. We were blessed momentarily with pregnancy, but it ended early. Through all of these trials, sorrows, and challenges, we truly believe God has never left our side. Adoption means more than just starting a family for us, it is a testimony to God’s faithfulness in His promises and how grace can come in many ways. We look forward to giving unconditional love, to teaching and guiding our little one, to cleaning up all forms of messes, and to encouraging our little one to speak his/her story to others so he/she can be a light in the world.
