WAITING FAMILIES
Hunter and Mallory
Dear Birthmother,
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and get to know us. We know the decision you are considering takes incredible strength and courage, and we want you to know that we see that and admire you for it. No matter what you decide, please know that you are already showing your child a tremendous amount of love.
Our faith is at the center of our lives, and we are deeply involved in our church and community. From early on in our relationship, we both felt called to grow our family through adoption, and that calling has only deepened over time.
We want you to know that your child will be raised knowing how deeply they are loved, by us and by you. We will never shy away from telling them about the selfless, brave decision you made out of love for them. Your child will know their story, and it will be told with honor and gratitude. We are committed to giving your child a life full of unconditional love, laughter, adventure, faith, and every opportunity to become exactly who they are meant to be. We promise to nurture their gifts, celebrate who they are, and always, always be in their corner.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering us. Whatever path you choose, we are sending you love, support, and prayers as you make this decision.
About Us
We are Hunter and Mallory. We dated all through college and got married on November 2, 2019. We’ve gone on lots of adventures together in the 12 years we’ve been together, including moving across the country to Phoenix, AZ, traveling to Scotland to bike the west highlands, and adopting 4 rescue animals over the years.
I am 31 years old and originally from South Louisiana. I have 2 sisters, both of whom live just a few miles down the street! I have a Doctor of Pharmacy from The University of Mississippi and work as a pharmacist. My favorite things to do are read, craft and spend time outdoors with our dogs.
Hunter is 30 years old, is from Northeast Texas, and has 1 younger brother. He is a software engineer and works from home. His favorite things to do are jiu jitsu, go for a run and volunteer with local non-profits.
Our Home / Community
We live in a one-story home, with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Our home is warm and welcoming to our family and friends. Our favorite room is the living room. We spend a lot of quality time together cuddling our pets on the couch and curling up with a good book. We have a big backyard with a small garden, a large oak tree with a rope swing, and plenty of space to run around.
Our home is in a quiet, gated neighborhood, with lots of neighborhood kids running around. We are in one of the best school districts in Mississippi, and about a 5 minute drive from everything you could want (including our favorite coffee shop)!
We are also very involved in our broader community. We are both members and very involved at our church. We both sit on the church council and attend many fellowship and volunteer events. We are also invested in making our community a better place. I am a member of Junior League and a board member of a nonprofit organization that sends books to incarcerated individuals, and Hunter is a member of a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting youth with the Boys and Girls Club.
We have an amazing support system and group of friends in town, and we regularly get together for supper club, to watch a football game, or just hang out and spend time with each other.
Family Activities / Traditions
As a family, we love spending time together, whether at home or off exploring some part of the world. We love being outdoors, traveling, and trying new foods. A few places we have traveled recently include Scotland, Croatia, Seattle, and there are many more on our bucket list!
We are driving distance from both of our extended families, and often get together for holidays and other big events. Mallory’s sisters and cousin live in town, and we have a longstanding tradition of getting together for family dinner on Sunday nights.
We can’t wait to add a little one to these traditions and start some new ones as a family together!
Our Adoption Journey
We always knew we wanted to be parents. That was never a question for either of us. After genetic testing, we found out that we both carry a copy of the cystic fibrosis gene, which means any biological child of ours would have a one-in-four chance of being born with the disease. That was a heavy thing to sit with, and we spent a lot of time in prayer and conversation about what it meant for our family.
Ultimately, we did not want to chance bringing a sick child into the world if we could help it. As a pharmacist who has worked with patients with this disease, I understood the realities of that diagnosis in a way that made the weight of it even more personal. We began exploring every option available to us, including donor embryos and adoption.
The more we learned about adoption, the more it felt less like a backup plan and more like the plan all along. We truly feel called to grow our family this way. What started as a difficult discovery has turned into something beautiful, and we are so grateful for the journey that brought us to this moment and, hopefully, to you.
