WAITING FAMILIES

Logan and Alaina

Dear Birthmother,

What can we say that hasn’t already been expressed by others? Our thoughts and prayers are with you every day. We understand the incredibly challenging decision you are facing and admire your courage in making it. Thank you for considering us in this journey.

Our household is filled with joy, creativity, and laughter. We are people that love deeply and will extend that profound love to this child. Although our home isn’t perfect, it is a nurturing environment where mistakes are seen as learning opportunities. We value imagination and creativity, and we want our child to have the freedom to express themselves and explore their imagination. We vow to raise this child with the assurance that they are loved and cherished. Becoming parents is a journey filled with love, challenges, and immense growth. It involves understanding, patience, and the willingness to learn and adapt. We want to create a safe environment where our child feels valued, and loved. By listening and communicating openly, we aim to build a strong foundation of trust and respect. Focusing on empathy and kindness, we will guide our child through life’s ups and downs, celebrating achievements and learning from mistakes together. Our commitment is to support their dreams and help them become the best version of themselves, while also growing as individuals and as a family.

We also hope you will be a part of this child’s community and be a part of all the important moments in their life. We want this child to know they have a loving tribe supporting them.

About Us

Hi, I’m Logan and I’m a Data Center Manager by day, but I’ve had a variety of experiences that have shaped who I am today. I’m from Mississippi and I’m a proud graduate of Mississippi State University. One of my favorite jobs was working at FYE, a music and movie store, during my time in college. It was there that I developed my passion for music, movies, and connecting with people. When I’m not managing data centers, you can find me enjoying my favorite hobbies—sports (especially baseball, football, and basketball), going to concerts, watching movies, and playing with Legos. I’m an avid record collector, and nothing beats the feeling of finding a rare gem for my collection. I’m a firm believer in empathy. I can’t stand seeing people in pain or need, and I always try to offer a helping hand where I can. I’m all about laughter and fun—life is too short to be serious all the time! I cherish spending time with my family, especially my brother and parents, who I’m incredibly close to. I also love spending time with my wife, Alaina—whether we’re at the baseball field, watching TV shows, or discussing what’s for dinner. Playing with our pets is always a highlight, too. At the end of the day, I’m just someone who loves life, values the people around me, and tries to make the world a little better in whatever way I can.

My name is Alaina, and I wear many hats: wife, pet mom, sister, daughter, aunt, entrepreneur, friend, and artist. I’ve spent my whole life in Mississippi. Growing up, my family and I attended college sporting events, I took part in Girl Scouts, sang in the choir, participated in art contests, and was active in our church community. I had a special bond with my grandparents, often spending long weekends with them well into adulthood. After college, I spent five years teaching First Grade, which was a valuable learning experience, but I realized it wasn’t my true calling. From an early age, I wanted to be a business owner, and I’m delighted to have run my shop for 13 years now. Gift-giving is how I express love, and it fills my heart with joy to help others find the perfect present for someone special. My nephews and nieces mean the world to me, and I’ve been extremely involved in the lives of my sister’s children (nephews and youngest niece).

About eight years ago, Logan and I met through a shared friend. We quickly hit it off, constantly chatting and spending time together. Logan claims he once asked me out and I declined, but I honestly don’t recall that, haha. In 2021, when my family faced a devastating loss, Logan was there for us. He checked in on us daily, providing the support I desperately needed to navigate my grief. That summer, both of us were single, and I nervously asked him out, worried it might disrupt our friendship. It turned out to be the best choice I ever made! Our relationship blossomed swiftly; we dated for about a month and it was clear this was meant to be. Being in our late 30s, we had a clear sense of what we wanted. Our bond grew rapidly. That fall, he proposed. As my father had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and was losing mobility, we decided to get married just a month and a half later. Our first year of marriage was a whirlwind: my father’s condition worsened, we sold, bought, and renovated a house, hosted our wedding reception, and sadly, my father passed away in August 2022. Throughout it all, Logan was my steadfast support, always there to listen and make each day a bit brighter. Now, we live in a lovely home with two dogs and a cat. We host outrageously fun Halloween and Christmas parties with friends. Family holds great significance for us, and starting a family of our own is a dream we cherish. We are eager to share our love with a new addition. Logan and I spend most of our time with friends and family or playing with our fur babies. We LOVE going to Mississippi State Baseball games. It’s probably our favorite activity together. We love going to concerts and listening to live music. Music and the Arts is extremely important to us; we fill our home with art and music posters. We want our memories to be filled with experiences.

Our Home / Community

We absolutely love our home! Since purchasing it in the spring of 2022, we’ve put a lot of effort into updating it. Our house is a two-story, four-bedroom, four and a half bath home that’s beautiful inside and out. Nestled on a hill with a huge front porch, it makes a grand first impression. The entryway has 20-foot ceilings, making it the perfect spot for our 12-foot Christmas tree!

Our primary bedroom and the baby’s room are conveniently located on the first floor, right next to each other. Most of our time is spent upstairs in the family room. We also have a spacious deck and backyard that are ideal for gatherings.

Right at 3 acres, our property is mostly wooded, providing a serene environment where we often see a family of deer wandering through our small neighborhood. Our favorite time of year for our yard and home is Spring. Our home is a calm, yet vibrant space, reflecting our eclectic taste in furniture and decorations. It’s filled with concert posters, intriguing artwork, and sentimental items from our childhood and family. My painting projects often occupy space, as do Logan’s ongoing Lego creations.

Our neighborhood is a charming little nook with only 13 houses surrounding a small lake, each on 3-4 acres. It’s a delightful mix of older and younger families, and the deer make their rounds daily, often winding up in our backyard. We take immense joy in watching them and the other wildlife roam freely. This hidden gem of a neighborhood is peaceful and an ideal place to raise a family.

Every year, we host an extravagant Halloween party and have recently started a family Easter Egg Hunt, thanks to our many hiding spots. Our town’s public schools have just been rated A schools, and the elementary school is conveniently less than a mile away. As a former schoolteacher, I value education highly, making this location perfect for our family.

Family Activities / Traditions

Family is very important to both of us. We take every opportunity we can to spend time with each other’s family. Since my family, Logan’s brother and his family live in town, we see them often. We try to make trips to visit Logan’s parents as much as possible, and trips to visit his grandparents. We get together for all major holidays and family birthdays. We try to attend several of my nephews’ sporting events each season too.

Logan and I are music people. We love going to concerts and festivals to watch live music. There is a festival in Texas we like to attend every year, it’s an easy fun 2 days of great music and allows us to visit friends and family in the area. We want to travel more and go on trips. Experiences are important to us; we want to see the world and experience different cultures. I have been to Yellowstone, Wyoming and Montana, but I hope to go back with Logan and family one day.

With me working in retail, Thanksgiving and Christmas do get a little tricky. We always find time to spend with family. For my family, we usually wait until the Sunday after Thanksgiving to celebrate, and the week after Christmas to open gifts. With Logan’s grandparents still alive, it’s important to us to celebrate on the day if we can. On Christmas Eve, we like to go to our Church’s Candlelight Service and have a family meal. Christmas morning is just for me and Logan and soon our future kids. We like to spend that time together, opening our gifts from one another and just spending time as a family.

We are huge sports fans and are season ticket holders to Mississippi State University Baseball games. We rarely miss a game, and the people that sit around us have become our little baseball family. Logan goes and buys a new jersey to wear throughout the season every year and I always bring my dad’s old cowbell to every game. We like all sports, but baseball is our favorite.

We host a huge Halloween party every year! Halloween is Logan’s favorite holiday and was my Dad’s birthday, so we go all out! We decorate the house inside and out with spooky decorations. We love it when our friends and family come over to see everything. We like to have fun, and make things in our life fun.

Our Adoption Journey

I know every adoption journey is different, ours most certainly is not the standard. I knew as a young girl I would probably have some issues with conceiving due to some medical issues as a child. I remember at a young age discussing adoption with my friends and family. My Aunt was adopted when she was three. I always knew she was adopted, but she was simply just my Aunt. This is probably the reason why adoption was always a major choice for me. I also had a really good friend that was adopted, so it was familiar to me. When I was in college, I often said if I am not married by the time I am 35 I would adopt. I knew I wanted to be a mom, I knew I would be a great mom, I just wasn’t sure if I wanted to physically give birth. After marrying Logan, (I was older than 35) we tried for a little while. With the stress of my dad’s illness, running a business, being a newlywed, my health became affected, and it was not safe for me to become pregnant. We openly discussed adoption as an option and we both said yes! But then life got in the way for another year. One day a dear friend that adopted her son reached out and asked if we were still interested in the adoption process. This opened the door to the conversation again. We prayed a lot about it, and ultimately decided the timing was right. We have so much love to give to a tiny little human. Logan was made to be a father, and he will be the most wonderful dad! We have a safe and happy home just ready to share and build a family.
