Dear Birthmother,

We believe you are a brave, courageous young woman to carry this child and make this decision. We promise to raise your child with an open, on-going relationship with you, if that is your wish!

Thanks for stopping to peek at our letter. Adoption is already in our family, as Shannon’s sister and her husband fulfilled their dreams by adopting four children. After years of struggling with infertility, we are really excited to start our family through adoption.

Shannon has a heart for people, loves unconditionally, and has a gift of making others feel comfortable. These traits will bless our adopted son or daughter in many ways. Shannon loves physical activity, running and cooking fun and healthy foods in the kitchen. She has worked in medical sales for most of her career, and she is also an active volunteer in her church community.

Tom is a go-getter, so it’s no surprise he started his own heating and air conditioning business. Growing up in the woods of WI, he appreciates nature, embraces community and he loves his family and friends. Tom is a natural “fixer”, there isn’t much he can’t fix! With a tender heart, Tom is always patient and a great teacher. He has a love for life and takes time to see the beauty around him.

We actually met in an unincorporated town. Shannon and her mother were traveling through town on the way to the family cabin, and decided to stop at a restaurant for dinner. That is where Tom was, visiting the owners, who happened to be very close family friends. Well… we all sat next to each other and Tom started a conversation and soon offered Shannon and her mom to try the French fries on his dinner plate that just was delivered, which he claimed are the best around! The rest is history, as they say. Our story starts with a smile and our journey continues to share so many more smiles and laughter. We are blessed and thankful for how our story has continued to progress.

We live in a two-story home, with three bedrooms, and three bathrooms in a spacious neighborhood in Forest Lake. We own ten acres of land where we enjoy the outdoors. We have a bunch of apple trees and strawberry plants on the land that we enjoy during the summer and fall. There is also an amazing playground right across the street from our home, where the neighborhood kids play and have fun! We are surrounded by friendly, and loving neighbors who we consider to be our extended family. There is a new language immersion school close by, and a brand new YMCA in our neighborhood. Our church is just minutes away, and it is a huge part of our family life. We volunteer together and enjoy connecting with our community there.

Every day in our family involves love and laughter. We often throw family birthday parties and host holiday’s to gather everyone together. Tom restores old JEEP’s, while Shannon loves being creative and doing DIY projects. We are both passionate about anything outdoors and love being on the lake! Tom’s family lives on 140 acres in northwestern WI. Shannon’s parents live in Andover, MN and Spooner, WI near the family cabin. Shannon’s sister, Stephanie, and her family live in CA. Our annual vacation is typically out west to see them. Our families love kids! Everyone is so excited to have another child in the family.

Even though we grew up two hours away from each other, a fun and unique holiday tradition was shared. We both grew up with a Christmas Eve tradition of doing fondue dinner. It is such a neat experience. It is a special way to have a nice dinner and cook along the way while sharing fun Christmas memories and current events in our family life.

After struggling with infertility, we have happily chose the option of adoption. We tried to start our family naturally and through in-vitro fertilization and were unsuccessful. After eight years, we felt God calling us to adoption. Our family has been touched in such a special way through adoption. Shannon’s sister has adopted all four of her children.
