About Us

Our journey together started back in 2004, when we met in our church youth group. Our first date was at our church’s Valentine’s banquet in 2005, and from there our relationship grew. We dated for six years before we got engaged on July 4^th at a rose garden. Then, one year later, we were married on a beautiful 75-degree Saturday in August 2012.

Jay is not only a devoted husband but also a loving father to our two amazing boys. He pours his heart into his work as an optometrist in his hometown. When he’s not at work, Jay enjoys playing outside with the boys and playing chess with our 6-year-old. Jay is a licensed minister who teaches adults and children of all ages. He is also the  Bible quizzing director at our church.

Brittany is a loving stay-at-home mom and homeschool teacher. Music has always been a big part of her life, and she enjoys singing with her church choir and worship team. Baking is another one of her passions. She loves whipping up delicious treats with her little helpers. In her free time, she enjoys unwinding with a coloring book or diving into the pages of a good read.

Our Home / Community

We live in a two-story farmhouse on a quarter of an acre in a quiet neighborhood. Our home backs up to a large greenspace and walking path that leads to a community pool. We have a large, fenced backyard with a playset that includes slides, swings, and a climbing wall. When the weather is nice, we enjoy playing on the playground, running with our dog, drawing with chalk, or blowing bubbles. On sunny days, we enjoy walking around the neighborhood or riding bikes. On a rainy or cold day, we like to get our energy out playing in our basement. For a quieter activity we enjoy reading in our book nook or doing art projects together. In the kitchen, we enjoy gathering around the island to bake sweet treats and we also enjoy movie nights in our living room.

Family Activities / Traditions

We love to go on adventures to new places. Our favorite spots are the National Parks, and we have a goal to visit them all. We also like to take weekend trips to water parks and in-state attractions like zoos and museums.

We always decorate our home for Christmas on the day after Thanksgiving. Our boys’ favorite part is hanging the ornaments on the tree. As it gets closer to Christmas day, we bake a variety of treats to share with family and friends. We also really enjoy driving around the city to look at the Christmas lights.

Our Adoption Journey

We believe adoption is Biblical. God has blessed us with two little boys whom we love so much, but we don’t feel like our family is complete without a little girl. Over the past few years, we have felt God leading us to adopt, but we weren’t sure when. Toward the end of 2023, a message was preached at our local church which led us to start the process. We are so excited to grow our family through adoption.
